Why Is Only a Preview or Cover Returned?

SnapVideoTools shows what the public source exposes for that link. Some items provide metadata, artwork or a short preview but not a complete media file.

Short answer

Only a preview or cover is returned when the source does not expose a complete accessible media file to the public link request. This is common with protected audio, restricted posts, metadata pages and items whose media requires login, membership or DRM access.

Read the result literally

A cover, thumbnail, artwork record or preview is an available source result, not a promise that the complete song or video exists behind another button.

Most likely reasons

  • The page exposes public metadata and artwork only.
  • The source offers a short audio preview but protects the full track.
  • The item is restricted by login, membership, region or rights rules.
  • The media was removed while its public metadata page remains.

Check before retrying

  1. 1

Open the original item while signed out.

  2. 2

Confirm that it is an individual supported item URL.

  3. 3

Check Supported Sites for the result types listed for that platform.

  4. 4

Test another known-public item from the same platform.

What SnapVideoTools will not infer

The tool does not upscale an image, reconstruct an original file, bypass DRM, or turn a metadata-only result into a complete song or video.

Frequently asked questions

Not always. It can be the only public asset exposed by the source.

No. A preview does not grant access to a protected or DRM-controlled full track.

No. Retry when the link or platform may have changed, but the available formats still depend on the source.
